The Texas Guan is found mainly in northern South America, southern Central America, and a few adjacent Caribbean islands. This bird diets on plant matter, represented by leaves, seeds, flowers and fruits. These birds breed from April to August, with peak in June to July, perhaps generally later in lowlands, for example in Southern Oaxaca but also in Jalisco. This species is not globally threatened (Least Concern) and is still common in much of range, for example, in Sierra Madre del Sur, Guerreo, despite rapid habitat clearance.
