• Joe Smith was drafted 1st overall to the Golden State Warriors, while other notable picks included Rasheed Wallace taken fourth to the Washington Bullets, and future Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett went fifth to the Minnesota Timberwolves
• The NBA’s newest teams both drafted in the top ten, with the Grizzlies selecting Bryant Reeves sixth, and the Raptors picking Damon Stoudamire 7th
